Kimberly, an Air Force veteran and children's author, draws inspiration from her experiences growing up in a military family. Throughout her life, books became her refuge—a source of strength and how to navigate the challenges she faced. Her stories, infused with themes of courage, love, positivity, and faith, reflect the values that shaped her journey. These guiding principles not only helped her overcome personal obstacles but also led her to uncover deeper truths about herself and the world around her. I began acrylic painting on canvas after retiring from 27 years of service in the United States Air Force, following my battles with cancer and post-war PTSD.I had never picked up a paintbrush until I attended a women’s Bible retreat. Instead of climbing ropes, I chose to spend three hours painting. I discovered how calming and fulfilling the experience was, both during and after. When I returned home from the retreat, I immediately bought everything I needed to start painting. Since then, I haven’t stopped expressing my creativity.
Along my journey with God, I’ve learned that healing from inner demons requires help; you can’t do it alone. I sought support to confront my past traumas and address my PTSD. One day, I picked up a pen and began writing. My words were dark at first, but then God spoke to me: “Turn your trauma into a positive lesson. Use your life as a teaching tool for children.” And here I am today.
Though I didn’t start writing children's books until 2024, I am incredibly blessed and excited to embark on this next chapter—using my creativity to inspire and encourage young minds.
